Information on skills requirements >
The following indicators can help the HR/training department select the skills necessary for the company in the near future and determine also the number of new trainees.
- Qualification structure
Look at the present distribution of qualifications in your staff and on recent hiring activities. Has there been a shift towards certain occupations and qualifications? Which are the skills that
department heads ask for?
- Ways to meet the demand
The necessary skills can be supplied either by in-house vocational training (in countries with a dual VET system) or by hiring from the labour market and possibly additional internal training
- Turnover replacement
Look at the labour turnover rate in your company. Which demand for replacement exists?
- Retention rate of trainees
If your company gives ample information about the conditions of the training and selects its trainees carefully, the retention rate can be increased up to 90 percent.
- Ratio of permanent employment after completion of the training
Engaging in the training of young persons for a qualification is a way to create a skilled workforce which is already familiar with the workings and requirements of your enterprise. A ratio of at
least 80 per cent should be achieved.
