Ensure that students and assessors have a shared understanding of what feedback is, and what it is for. Students may have difficulties to understand assessment criteria and the formal language used in assessments, so make sure you communicate clearly.
Be explicit about the details of feedback processes and expectations. Ensure that students understand why they are getting feedback and how their learning can benefit from their reflecting, and acting, on feedback.
Prepare them to give their own impression of the assessment and the training unit. The feedback of trainees can help to raise the quality of the training provision and the assessment.
